Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day!
What a great country we live in. I hope you are enjoying it in the great outdoors with friends and family... And maybe some poutine?? For the uninitiated that is a Quebec delicacy, French fries topped with cheese curds and gravy... Yum.
One thing I must add... If you've never been to Ottawa for Canada Day put it on your list.

Enjoy all this fabulous country has to offer!

To paint or not to paint??

.....you know that feeling you get, sneaks up on you usually when you are folding laundry and the house is quiet, everything seems like it is ok but you suddenly have an epiphany..I should paint this! Alternate versions of this are..move this, remove this, change this, buys this, sew this..etc.. I am a consummate change girl, I love to change a room around. My boys have grown up with it(hopefully making them great potential spouses one day) my husband tolerates it and I love it!!
I was looking at the online Pottery barn catalog and was struck by this photo. The big question is..should I paint my harvest table? It's a gorgeous piece custom built for us with 100 year old barn board for the table top. Problem is I don't like the color anymore. I'm also loving the wicker and the bench...I feel like this EXACTLY what I would love my room to look like, casual and inviting. What do you think??

A yummy diversion for a wintry day

Yesterday I spent the better part of the afternoon working on a fabulous dessert from one of my favourite cookbooks. The cookbook is called Baked: New Frontiers in Baking and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to cook and bake. It is full of amazing recipes many of them unusual flavor combinations. Degree of difficulty for some of them is a bit higher than my usual dump, dump stir baking but I enjoyed the challenge..if not the myriad of pots and bowls. I'm taking my final product to a dinner party so I'll let you know the reviews.
